SYNTHESIS Sie gilt als eine der schönsten Kompositionen des 20. Jahrhunderts: Frank Martins Messe für Doppelchor besticht durch Virtuosität, komplexe Rhythmik und ihre außergewöhnliche emotionale Wirkkraft. Scheinbar mühelos lässt der Schweizer Komponist dabei modale Skalen ineinander fließen, macht das Werk gleichsam zu einer Zeitreise durch die abendländische Kompositionsgeschichte. Darin bricht sich eine Lust an Experiment und neuartigen Klangkombinationen Bahn, der sich auch der dänische Musiker und Elektronikkünstler Mads Brauer (Mitglied der Band EFTERKLANG) und der Berliner Chor Cantus Domus verpflichtet fühlen. Gemeinsam betreten sie im Rahmen des ClubConcerts klangliches Neuland und verbinden klassischen Chorgesang mit Elementen elektronischer Musik. Versatzstücke der Martinschen Messe werden hier in ganz neue musikalische Zusammenhänge gerückt, bis zu sechzehnstimmige, komplexe Gesangspassagen mit Synthesizerklängen zu einem innovativen Klangteppich verwoben. Das Projekt kann somit als ein musikalischer Forschungsprozess zwischen Vergangenheit und Gegenwart gelten und erschließt durch sein ungewöhnliches, konzeptuelles Design neue Klangräume. Warum vergleichen wir uns mit anderen? Und wie wirkt sich Konkurrenz auf unser Zusammenleben aus? Auf der Suche nach Ursachen für Rivalität, Eifersucht und Gewalt finden sich Hinweise in der biblischen Geschichte von König David, 1921 vertont durch den Schweizer Komponisten Arthur Honegger. Der Berliner Chor Cantus Domus führt in seinem zehnten KonzeptKonzert das als Bühnenstück komponierte Oratorium auf und wagt eine völlig neue Kombination aus rhythmisch-explosiver Chormusik und modernem Tanz. In Zusammenarbeit mit dem Choreographen Christoph Winkler und den Tänzern Ahmed Soura und Aloalii Naughton Tapu entsteht eine bewegende klangmalerische Erzählung über die rituellen Mechanismen, die unsere menschliche Kultur prägen.
